Hunters. The bane of the immortal creatures, the “monsters” of the night. The humans that know the dark secret of the world, and have decided to try to do something about it, before the human race is wiped out. A secret organization created for the creation and training in the use of special weapons to defend the ignorant masses of the world. It is the greatest secret of the world, and small percentage of the population of the world knows of us. Well, the human population, anyway. The vampires and werewolves know all about us.

The Hunters is almost completely consisted of humans. There are a few vampires and werewolves in our midst, because they do not agree with what their brethren are doing. They are the ones who feed off of donated blood, living life carefully so as to not cause need for the Hunters to turn on them. These nonhuman Hunters don’t have to use the typical weapons of a hunter – having their teeth, claws, or other powers – though some can be seen carrying them, just in case. The humans are the best of the best, and they have been trained to fight against those who are faster, stronger, and much more cunning than they are. When all’s said and done, they’re more likely to shoot and ask questions of the corpse. The Hunters, when going about their day to day lives, seem like your average human, though they are constantly armed and wary of their surroundings.

The Hunters have many weapons. The main weapon has always been a gun. Whether you carry one pistol or two is up to you, but there are two different styles of bullets that are needed in this line of work. There are the holy bullets, the ones infused with holy water, effective against vampires. These won’t kill a werewolf, but they will hurt like hell, since it still is a bullet. There are also the silver bullets, which are the bullets used to kill a werewolf. They, like the holy bullets on a werewolf, won’t kill a vampire, but they will probably piss them off. The secondary weapon is the dagger. A silver bladed dagger – usually blessed by a priest, or other holy person – will work on a werewolf or vampire if you run out of bullets, can’t get a shot off, or they are just too close. A silver blade that has been blessed works on both, but if your silver blade isn’t blessed, you need to get a steel one that is, or a vampire will be able to get you. There is a new “weapon” that has been recently brought to the Hunters. It is a special mace that is infused with either silver flecks – for werewolves – or holy water – for the vampires.

As they are very secretive about their lives, only the very trusted are brought into their ranks. A Hunter can have a lover that will never know what they really do for a living. Those they bring in are sworn to complete secrecy, and if there is a fear that they will divulge their secrets to the public, they are taken care of. It is, as said before, the best kept secret in the world. If the vampires and werewolves weren’t so keen on not being found out by the humans, they’d have told the world by now their secret. It is a small blessing, but it doesn’t mean the war doesn’t continue.
